Kunshan Culture Center

The Kunshan Culture Center, built in 1949, was recognized by the Ministry of Culture as a first-class culture center in 2011. With an area of 6,833 sqm, the facility houses a theater, a painting & calligraphy workshop, an art salon, a music classroom, an art gallery, a dance room and a multi-purpose hall. The center was created to promote cultural prosperity, host folk cultural activities, offer art training, and drive and guide art creation for urban and rural communities, enterprises and institutions in Kunshan.

Every year, the center hosts over 350 cultural shows and offers more 120 free art or culture-themed training sessions organized in the formats of lecturing, tutoring and interactive exchange. To encourage artistic creation, a center dedicated to promoting mass literary and art creation was created, which has given birth to many works that have won awards in municipal, provincial or national competitions. In terms of intangible cultural heritage protection, as of the end of 2015, 37 forms of culture have been placed on the various levels of lists of intangible cultural heritage, which are preserved by 37 certified inheritors. In addition, Kunshan has published the book series A Selection of Kunshan Ethnic and Folk Cultural Works.

The public enjoys free access to the venue, including its functional facilities (the dance room, music classroom, multi-purpose hall, theater and painting & calligraphy studio, etc.), as well as activities and exhibitions regularly held here. It is a place that offers opportunities for citizens to experience and benefit from cultural creativity.
